Toyota Le Mans Test Day Dominance
Toyota Gazoo Racing made a strong statement at the 2025 Le Mans Test Day, clocking the fastest time in the Hypercar class. Brendon Hartley drove the #8 GR010 Hybrid to a best lap of 3:26.246, narrowly beating Ferrari’s James Calado, who recorded 3:26.777 in the #51 499P LMH. Robert Kubica, racing for AF Corse, followed closely with a 3:26.902 in the #83 Ferrari.
Despite multiple red flags during the six-hour test, Toyota used the session wisely. Technical Director Pascal Vasselon noted that while test day times shouldn’t be overanalyzed, the data gathered is essential for fine-tuning setups.
Meanwhile, Ferrari demonstrated consistent pace with both its factory and customer teams. However, the small gap between Toyota and Ferrari suggests the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans could be one of the most competitive in recent years.
Battle Lines Drawn Ahead of Le Mans
The 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans is scheduled for June 14–15 at Circuit de la Sarthe. Both teams will continue preparation through simulation runs and upcoming practice sessions.
What makes this battle more intense is the level of technological advancement shown by both manufacturers. Toyota, with its hybrid platform, continues to impress. In contrast, Ferrari’s return to the top category is proving to be more than just symbolic—it’s serious competition.
Fans worldwide are already buzzing in anticipation. Will Toyota maintain its edge, or will Ferrari’s persistence pay off?
One thing is certain: the test day results have set the tone for a thrilling showdown in June.
