Iran War Death Toll Reaches 1,060 in Conflict With Israel

The Iran war death toll has climbed to at least 1,060, according to an official statement from Tehran. The figure, revealed Monday by Saeed Ohadi, head of Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, was broadcast on Iranian state television.

Ohadi stated that the number may increase to 1,100 as several wounded remain in critical condition.

Iran Begins to Acknowledge War Damage

During the 12-day war with Israel, Iran initially downplayed the impact of Israeli airstrikes. These strikes targeted and destroyed military installations, compromised air defense systems, and damaged nuclear facilities.

Although a ceasefire is now in place, Iran has only recently begun to admit the extent of the destruction. However, authorities have yet to release official data on lost military equipment or infrastructure damage.

Conflicting Casualty Reports From Human Rights Group

The Iran war death toll reported by Iranian authorities differs from figures provided by independent organizations. The Washington-based Human Rights Activists group stated that 1,190 people were killed in the conflict. Their breakdown includes 436 civilians and 435 security force members.

Additionally, the group reported that 4,475 people were wounded, suggesting a much broader human toll than Iran’s current official figure.

Uncertainty Over Final Numbers

Iranian officials have not ruled out the possibility that the casualty count will rise. The slow release of information and the lack of transparency have raised questions internationally.

Meanwhile, experts continue to assess the long-term effects of the war on Iran’s military and civilian infrastructure.
