Donald Trump recently slammed both Israel and Iran for violating the ceasefire agreed upon after 12 days of conflict. Although the ceasefire remains “in effect,” Trump condemned both nations for their breaches. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, despite the ongoing tensions.
Trump’s Post on Truth Social
On his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!”
He accused both countries of breaking the ceasefire shortly after its announcement. Trump urged Israel not to retaliate against alleged Iranian attacks, stressing, “DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS… BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” He warned that any further attacks would violate the ceasefire agreement.
Accusations of Violations
Trump announced the ceasefire on Monday night, and both Israel and Iran confirmed it. However, almost immediately, both nations accused each other of continuing attacks. According to the Iranian military, Israel violated the ceasefire three times. These attacks reportedly targeted multiple locations in Iran.
Meanwhile, Israel claimed that Tehran had fired a missile at northern Israel. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed a strong counterattack. Iran denied the missile attacks, according to the Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Ceasefire Agreement
Trump clarified that the ceasefire would take effect in stages. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE,” he posted.
The ceasefire officially began at 7:30 a.m. (12:30 a.m. GMT) on Tuesday, according to Iranian media. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office confirmed the ceasefire agreement. Israel declared that it had met its objectives, which included neutralizing the “double existential threat” posed by Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.
Continued Hostilities
Despite the ceasefire, Israel and Iran continued to exchange fire, resulting in casualties on both sides. At least nine people died in Rasht, a city in northern Iran, ahead of the ceasefire. Another 33 people were injured in the attack on a residential area, according to Tasnim.
Israeli attacks killed a senior Iranian nuclear scientist, while an Iranian missile strike on Israel resulted in five deaths and 20 injuries in Beersheba. The Israeli air force destroyed missile launch pads in western Iran used in these attacks.
Trump’s Support for the Ceasefire
Trump praised both Israel and Iran for their efforts to end the conflict. He congratulated them for having the “stamina, courage, and intelligence” to agree to a ceasefire. He also referred to the 12-day conflict as “THE 12 DAY WAR.”
U.S. Military Involvement
Over the weekend, the U.S. joined the conflict by conducting airstrikes on critical Iranian nuclear sites. These strikes included bunker-busting bombs on the Fordow uranium enrichment facility, the Natanz nuclear plant, and another facility in Isfahan. The U.S. intervention marked a significant escalation in the war between Israel and Iran.
Israel launched large-scale attacks on Iranian targets on June 13, aiming to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Tehran denied the accusations, while retaliating with missile and drone strikes on Israel. The ongoing conflict has resulted in casualties on both sides.
